Sculptra

Where artistry meets transformation

The Benefits

  • Gradual, Natural-Looking Results — Because Sculptra stimulates collagen production over weeks and months rather than adding instant volume, the changes are subtle and progressive.
  • Stimulates Your Own Collagen — Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers that add a foreign gel substance, Sculptra works by activating your body's own collagen-producing cells.
  • Long-Lasting Improvement (2+ Years) — Sculptra results can last two years or more—significantly longer than any hyaluronic acid filler on the market.
  • Treats Volume Loss Comprehensively — Rather than filling individual lines, Sculptra addresses the underlying cause of facial aging: lost structural volume.
  • Results That Look Like You— Refreshed — The hallmark of exceptional aesthetic work is when no one can tell you have had anything done.
  • Versatile Treatment Areas — Sculptra can address volume loss in the temples, cheeks, mid-face, jawline, chin, and even certain body areas.

The Process

I

Consultation

We begin with a comprehensive analysis of your facial structure at our Albuquerque clinic, identifying areas of volume loss in the temples, cheeks, mid-face, jawline, and chin. We discuss your aesthetic goals, review your medical history, and explain the unique mechanism of Sculptra compared to traditional fillers.

II

Preparation

Strategic injection points are mapped on your face to achieve natural-looking restoration and facial harmony. The treatment areas are cleansed and, if desired, topical numbing or a local anesthetic may be applied for comfort.

III

Treatment

Sculptra is precisely injected into the deep dermis or subcutaneous layer at the planned treatment points. Your practitioner uses a combination of needle and cannula techniques depending on the area being treated to ensure even product distribution and minimize bruising.

IV

Aftercare

The most important aftercare for Sculptra is the massage protocol: you will massage each treated area for five minutes, five times daily, for five days after your session—the "5-5-5 rule." This ensures even distribution of the product and prevents the formation of nodules. You may experience mild swelling, tenderness, or bruising at injection sites for a few days.

Is This Right
For You?

Sculptra at Diversions Med Spa is ideal for clients who appreciate subtlety, patience, and natural-looking results. Unlike instant fillers, Sculptra requires a commitment to a multi-session treatment plan and the understanding that results develop gradually over months.

During your consultation, we will evaluate your facial volume loss, discuss your goals, and determine whether Sculptra alone or in combination with other treatments will deliver the best results. We are transparent about what Sculptra can and cannot do—it excels at restoring volume and structural support but is not ideal for precise contouring of lips or treatment of fine surface lines, where hyaluronic acid fillers may be more appropriate.

IDEAL CANDIDATES

  • Seeking Long-Lasting Facial Rejuvenation — You want results that last two years or more rather than the six to twelve months typical of hyaluronic acid fillers, and you value the long-term cost-effectiveness of a more durable treatment.
  • Preferring Gradual, Natural Results — You prioritize discretion and want changes that appear natural and progressive.
  • Dealing with Significant Volume Loss — You have noticeable hollowing in the temples, flattening of the cheeks, deepening of the nasolabial folds, or overall facial thinning that indicates substantial collagen and volume loss.
  • Wanting to Address Hollow Cheeks or Temples — Temple hollowing and cheek flattening are hallmark signs of facial aging that Sculptra addresses exceptionally well by rebuilding the structural collagen foundation in these areas.
  • Interested in Collagen Stimulation — You are drawn to treatments that work with your body's biology rather than simply masking the signs of aging, and you appreciate the science behind biostimulatory approaches to facial rejuvenation.

FAQ

How is Sculptra different from dermal fillers?

Traditional dermal fillers like Juvederm and Restylane are made of hyaluronic acid gel that adds volume immediately upon injection—what you see is what you get. Sculptra takes a fundamentally different approach.

How long does Sculptra last?

Clinical studies have demonstrated that Sculptra results can last more than two years—and many patients report continued improvement beyond that timeframe. This is significantly longer than any hyaluronic acid filler currently available.

How many vials will I need?

The number of vials depends on the degree of volume loss and the areas being treated. Most clients need two to four vials per session, with two to three treatment sessions spaced four to six weeks apart.

Is there any downtime after Sculptra?

Downtime is minimal. You may experience mild swelling, tenderness, redness, or bruising at injection sites for a few days after treatment.

When will I see results from Sculptra?

Patience is key with Sculptra. After your initial treatment, you may see some immediate volume from the reconstitution fluid, but this subsides within a few days.

Can Sculptra be combined with other treatments?

Absolutely. Many of our clients at Diversions Med Spa combine Sculptra with hyaluronic acid fillers for a comprehensive rejuvenation approach.

Why is the massage protocol so important?

The five-five-five massage protocol (five minutes, five times daily, for five days) is critical for ensuring the Sculptra product distributes evenly throughout the treated area. Without proper massage, the poly-L-lactic acid particles can clump together, potentially forming small nodules under the skin.
